Growing up in a small coal mining town in Pennsylvania, Carol St. Cloud came to love the outdoors and spent many a summer's day exploring the river banks along the mighty Susquehanna River which was almost in her back yard. Although always inquisitive about the river, she never imagined that someday she would find herself completely enthralled by the idea of 'catch and release' fishing. Her love of travel coupled with her desire to experience the thrill of the catch has led her to take any opportunity to travel and find a trout stream wherever possible. She has been to 48 states, but can't yet claim to have flyfished in all of them. Her passion for fishing has led her to international fishing destinations in the Bahamas, Belize, New Zealand, and Mexico.

Lured by larger bodies of water, she now lives in Southern California and is the mother of two boys. Although only one has surprised her by taking to fishing, she finds motherhood her most challenging and rewarding life's experience - and can only wish it were as 'easy' as fishing!

Her first book, "The Better Half of Flyfishing," is not a how-to book. It is a collection of humorous stories about her own journey learning to flyfish. It also captures the spiritual threads that run between the sport of flyfishing and through life as well.

Carol is now working on her next book that takes an allegorical look at psychological issues of childhood.
